The third eye is a mystical invisible eye prevalent in many eastern religions that proponents claim offers perception beyond normal vision and is key to spiritual awakening.
There is a popular misconception that the eye will make an individual instantly happy and fulfilled. The insight that the third eye offer isn't always necessarily positive. The information that the third eye can offer is honest and truthful but at the same time can reveal things that aren't always ready to be faced or that may do more damage than good in the short term.
Only by learning to work through whatever information the third eye shares can it's potential for aiding personal growth and spiritual progression be fully realized. Without preparation for this undertaking, however, the process can be a painful one.
Some people will tend to see facets of themselves, positive and negative. These may manifest themselves as either inner knowledge or as literal manifestations of these facets, what some people may refer to as demons or monsters.
The dark side of this experience can slip you in a chain of unfortunate events if you are not completely aware of the risks.
Before you open your third eye you have to prepare yourself for the unknown.
Since the barriers of time and space are no longer in place when dealing with the insights offered through the opening of the third eye, this experience can be frightening and can seem to last for a much longer time than it does.
Some also find that their spiritual awakening manifests itself in physical symptoms. Some suffer hallucinations, others feel physically unwell and have trouble sleeping.
Only by listening to these forgotten aspects of personality and inner self can they be overcome and can an individual be completely at peace with themselves. This is why most people are forever conflicted and never truly happy on a deeper level than the shallow and superficial outer layer of their personalities that are presented to the world.
