Trump’s Conspiracy Theories Threaten To Destroy American Public Trust

The conspiracy rhetoric Trump uses to legitimize himself as president threatens the fragile trust that legitimizes his government.

“Nothing appears more surprising,” wrote David Hume in his 1758 “First Principles of Government,” than “the easiness with which the many are governed by the few.”
SAUL LOEB VIA GETTY IMAGES

What explains this surprising easiness? Trust is at the heart of the answer. Hume believed that since the people always outnumber their leaders (and thus retain the power of “force”), the legitimacy of all government rests merely “on opinion.” Governments exist solely because “the many” trust the government to serve their needs. Once government loses the trust of “the many,” then they will refuse to be governed by the few.

From my perspective as an American scholar of communication and rhetoric, Hume frames many questions, including: What tools of rhetoric and communication inspire the trust needed to support legitimate governments? And, in eras such as ours when trust in government declines, what rhetorical appeals must government leaders make to keep power? And conversely, as trust in government declines in the U.S., what role does rhetoric play in diminishing that trust?

Once government loses the trust of ‘the many,’ then they will refuse to be governed by the few.

Americans today still trust the government to do a lot of things — even if we don’t always value and recognize its role in our lives. According to a 2015 Pew Research Center survey, 94 percent of Americans think it’s the government’s job to keep “the country safe from terror;” 88 percent think it’s the government’s job to respond to natural disasters; 87 percent think it’s the government’s job to ensure safe food and medicine; 76 percent think it’s the government’s job to maintain infrastructure; and 70 percent think it’s the government’s job to ensure access to high quality education.

We trust, when we buy food or drinks from a grocery store or a restaurant, that the government has checked to make sure we won’t be poisoned. We trust that the government has made sure that the water we drink and the air we breathe won’t give us diseases. We trust that if we get sick, the government has credible research about how to cure us and has credentialed doctors and nurses to treat us.

We trust that the government-provided roads we drive on won’t destroy our cars and will take us in the direction that we want to go. We trust that the government-printed money we earn will be deposited into government-guaranteed checking accounts and be available for us when we want to buy things. We trust that the government will make sure that the lights, heat and water will turn on, and if there is a natural disaster, that all of these services will be restored as quickly as possible.

But such trust and legitimacy, as Jürgen Habermas reminds us, is fragile. And so political communities can be destroyed when the “system does not succeed in maintaining the requisite level of mass loyalty.” What is the requisite level of “mass loyalty,” and have we crossed over into a dangerous decay in trust in our government?

Such trust and legitimacy is fragile.

According to a 2015 Pew poll, “only 19 percent of Americans today say they can trust the government in Washington to do what is right,” which is consistent with trends since 2007. Pew reports that this widespread distrust represents “the longest period of low trust in government in more than 50 years.” A 2016 Gallup poll found that we also have historically low trust for all sorts of authority figures, including clergy (44 percent of Americans have a very high or high opinion, down from well above 60 percent in the 1970s and 1980s), journalists (23 percent of Americans have a very high or high opinion), lawyers (18 percent of Americans have a very high or high opinion) and labor union leaders (18 percent of Americans have a very high or high opinion).

What explains our distrust in our government and our leaders? According to Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam, Americans have grown more distrustful of one another and our government because we have less “bridging social capital” and more “bonding social capital” than previous generations of Americans. That is, we spend more time with people like us, and we spend less time interacting with others, including government organizations and schools. We are failing to join the PTA or the bowling league and instead are cocooned in our media bubbles. Our lack of participation negatively influences our trust in one another and in the decisions made by the government because, in this case, unfamiliarity breeds contempt.

Today, not only is our trust in government and established leadership waning, but lately it is under attack by a surprising figure: the president of the United States. Donald Trump became a political aspirant on the strength of a conspiracy theory — the “birther” argument over President Obama’s birth certificate. According to one count, he subsequently advanced more than 50 different conspiracies during his presidential campaign. Now, as president, Trump foments distrust by proclaiming corruption and conspiracy in many aspects of American life.

Conditions are ripe for conspiracy rhetoric.

Trump has sought to undermine the trust that we have for judges by referring to them as “so-called” and implying that they are part of a plot against American safety. He has sought to undermine the trust that we have for the media, polls and facts by claiming that journalists are an “opposition party” and by preemptively claiming that any negative polls are “fake news.” He has appointed cabinet members who actively purport to distrust established science such as inoculations and climate change.

What makes such conspiracy theories appealing, and what are the consequences of such appeals for government legitimacy? As Richard Hofstadter famously noted, conspiracy rhetoric is premised on the “paranoid style.” Conspiracy argument, he observed, is rife with “heated exaggeration, suspiciousness and conspiratorial fantasy” that create a coherent narrative of a dangerous plot. Conspiracy theories in American history often have been premised on the blurring of difference between appearance and reality: what is apparent is false and hides the actual plotting that is determined to and capable of destroying America.

Conspiracy rhetoric is also premised on a self-confirming or circular reasoning (Latin: circulus in probando or “circle in proving”). Once the narrative of conspiracy and corruption takes hold within a political community, it is difficult to dispel, because conspirators cannot be trusted to tell the truth about their plot. Conspiracy argument is “self-sealing” in that any holes in the story are quickly covered up by the logic of the conspiracy. For example: Why didn’t media reports show that there is a massive increase in crime, as Trump claimed? Not because crime didn’t increase, but because the media are part of the plot to deny that crime has increased.

In this way, conspiracy rhetoric creates a perverse sort of legitimacy for the leader who uses it. And conditions are ripe for conspiracy rhetoric.

There is much power at stake in labeling one version of ‘truth’ a ‘conspiracy’ and another a ‘fact.’

Communication scholar Jack Bratich explains via Michel Foucault that conspiracy theories participate in any society’s “regime of truth” or the politics surrounding the techniques and standards that a society uses to determine “true” from “false.” Obviously, there is much power at stake in labeling one version of “truth” a “conspiracy” and another a “fact.”

It’s easier for society to control what counts as “true” when there is a unified “truth” presented to the public via mass media. But the fracturing of media and the dominance of polarized news have created concurrent truth realities that enable conspiracy theories to flourish. Trump’s conspiracy arguments have exploited pre-existing distrust, frustration and polarized versions of “truth.” What are the potential consequences? Conspiracy rhetoric is dangerous because it creates a cohesive reality for those who adhere to its narrative and naturally lends itself to violence.

The Civil War, for example, can be seen as the culmination of two opposing conspiracy arguments. Abolitionists believed that there was a “slave power” conspiracy determined to deprive the North of political power. Slaveholders believed that Abraham Lincoln was part of a plot to abolish slavery, deprive them of their justly owned property and destroy the South. Despite Lincoln’s assurances in his first Inaugural Address, Southerners had been convinced of the conspiracy of “miserable fanatics” against their rights and believed themselves justified in seceding from the Union.

Like the polarizing rhetoric leading up to the Civil War, Trump’s distrustful conspiracy rhetoric could potentially make the nation even more distrustful of the government and established leaders. In this way, Trump is at war with his government and himself. The conspiracy rhetoric he uses to legitimize himself as president threatens the fragile trust that legitimizes his government.

10 Politicians With A Criminal Past

1. Congressman Darrell Issa (R-California, U.S.)
California Republican Darrell Issa is the wealthiest member of Congress, and with numerous arrests under his belt, he is also the member with the shadiest past. His worth has been estimated at $355 million, which Issa began amassing when his company developed the Viper Car Security System. The talking alarm featured Issa's voice warning potential thieves to "Please step away from the car." Ironically, Issa has multiple arrests dating back to 1972 for stealing cars and been accused of an assortment of other crimes, ranging from arson and insurance fraud to concealed weapons. 2. Mayor George Rosario (Groveland, Florida)
In 2016, the long arm of the law reached back 30 years to strip George Rosario of his Groveland, Florida mayorship. Rosario won a three-way race for the job, but one of the losing opponents insisted that the outcome should be overturned. Apparently, during his campaign, Rosario falsely claimed to have been awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart and to have served 21 years in the Army. He also neglected to mention his two 1987 convictions for dealing cocaine. A judge later decided that Rosario should not be allowed to serve as mayor after all. (Source | Photo)

3. RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin (India)

In a country that appears to be run by competing criminal organizations, Shahabuddin is the standard against which all of the many criminal politicians in India are measured. From campaigning from prison to releasing selfies while jailed, slapping around police officers, and killing off hostile witnesses and journalists, Shahabuddin lives large. A notorious crime figure before his long career as a PM, Shahabuddin has racked up 75 arrests, ten convictions, and has 45 cases pending since he began his political ascension. Recently, he was released from jail after being acquitted in a triple murder case that was disputed in court for 28 years and is now free to continue his political career if he so wishes. 4. Assemblyman Nelson Castro (Bronx, NY)
Former Bronx Assemblyman Nelson Castro had a string of arrests before being elected to office in 2009. He committed larceny in Michigan when he was 19, and grand larceny in 2003 (for bilking unemployment checks while employed), and was arrested in 2008 for accruing over $3000 in parking tickets. Finally, after being indicted in connection with a voter fraud investigation in 2009, Castro agreed to wear a wire for the FBI to gather evidence against other corrupt politicians while performing his duties as an elected official. "This guy couldn't be trusted from day one, and lots of people knew it," said Mike Soto, a community leader and reformer in the Bronx. (Source)

5. Candidate Jordan Haskins (Michigan House of Representatives, 95th District)
An automobile enthusiast turned politician, Jordan Haskins has been seeking election to Michigan's 95th District House seat since 2014.

Growing up in Raleigh, North Carolina, Haskins had a number of auto-related arrests, but after moving to Saginaw, Michigan (possibly to be closer to the Motor City), he began to develop a "cranking" fetish. (Cranking involves pulling spark plug wires to masturbate while cranking the engine.) The police explained in their report that "Jordan would remove the spark plug wires, then sit in the car and masturbate while the motor was sparking and making noises.”

He was arrested on multiple occasions for breaking and entering a building with intent, unlawful driving of an automobile, larceny and trespassing, and malicious destruction of personal property. "I was just a lonely, angry kid at the time," Haskins said. "If anything, I could be put on 'World's Dumbest Criminals.'"

So far, Haskins hasn't been successful in winning a seat in the House. (Source 1 | Source 2)

6. Mayor Elvis Rroshi (Kavaja, Albania)
With a history that includes arrests for falsification of documents and convictions for drug trafficking, money laundering, and participation in a gang rape, Elvis Rroshi still somehow managed to get elected Mayor of Kavaja, Albania in 2011. Five years later, when it was discovered that he had falsified documents that hid his rape conviction in Italy, Rroshi was formally dismissed from office by the Prime Minister. Rroshi, however, has ignored his dismissal and continues acting as the mayor. He now has a public endorsement from the Minister of Finance and has started campaigning for the June 2017 elections. 7. Mayor Joe Ganim (Bridgeport, Connecticut)
In 2003, Connecticut politician Joe Ganim was convicted on 16 felony counts of racketeering, bribery, conspiracy, mail fraud, and tax evasion. While mayor of Bridgeport (the second largest city in the state), he had partaken in an elaborate payola scheme where he received gifts like home renovations, diamonds, tailored clothing, and cash, totaling over half a million dollars. After serving seven years in federal prison, Ganim started working towards rebuilding his political career, and in 2015 with endorsements from the Bridgeport Police Union and a former FBI agent who had worked to convict him, Ganim ran for reelection to his mayoral post and won. He is now working to obtain public funding to join the race for governor. (Source 1 | Source 2 | Photo)

8. Town Council Chief Sampath Vidanapathirana (Sri Lanka)
Arrested in 2010 for murdering an elderly woman, Sri Lankan politician Sampath Vidanapathirana was released when police presented medical reports as evidence that he was mentally ill.

Vidanapathirana was well connected to powerful families in the southern beach resort of Tangalle, where he rampaged with impunity for the next few years. But on Christmas Eve 2014, Sampath and three others stabbed and then shot a British traveler on the dance floor of a hotel nightclub, and raped his Russian girlfriend. The incident drew media attention worldwide. Eventually, Vidanapathirana was sentenced 20 years for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. (Source 1 | Source 2)

9. European PM Mario Borghezio (Italy)
An Italian representative in the European Parliament for nearly two decades, Mario Borghezio has been fined or arrested for actions like physically bullying a 12-year-old Moroccan street vendor, participating in a protest against the Islamisation of Europe, and setting fire to the makeshift beds of some homeless migrants in Turin. Borghezio has praised the like of Muammar Gaddafi and Ratko Mladic and routinely provides inflammatory or provocative quotes to the media. He once said, "When I'm on stage at a political rally, I become a different person. I say whatever comes out of my gut. It's exciting. No, it's more than exciting: it's like having an orgasm.” (Source)

10. President Horacio Cartes (Paraguay)
As one of Paraguay's most powerful men, Cartes built up an empire. He owned of dozens of companies which employed thousands of people. He is also suspected to be at the center of a variety of illicit activities, including drug and contraband smuggling.

In 2000, drug enforcement officials intercepted a plane full of cocaine and marijuana on his property, and Wikileaks cables from the U.S. embassy revealed Cartes to be a prominent figure in drugs and money laundering networks throughout South America.

Once elected to the presidency, the powerful Colorado Party candidate has operated as a virtual dictator, making outrageous comments against homosexuals, and going from scandal to scandal, while overturning laws that might impede his power. (Source)

The Rothschilds, Murdoch & Cheney Want to Drill Oil in Syria

Afek Oil and Gas have concluded the flow testing phase from the Ness-2 drilling site of Deborah’s Well in Syria and now they are analyzing samples taken from it. The parent company of Afek, Genie Energy Ltd has some famous names as investors, including Lord Jacob Rothschild, Rupert Murdoch and Dick Cheney.
ROTHSCHILD, CHENEY AND MURDOCH DRILL FOR OIL IN DEBORAH’S WELL IN SYRIA

Testing completed before at the Afek site hadn’t met expectations and this led the company to seek out other sweet spots in the region. More sample analysis from other wells is also going to be performed by scientists from Afek, along with external international experts.

DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE GENEVA CONVENTION DOESN’T MATTER

Understanding the involvement of the US in the Afek oil exploration in Syria is very important. The occupation of Israel of Golan Heights is a violation of international law, and so Israeli allows granting Afek the right to conduct exploratory tests of what may be a large reservoir of gas that is natural and light oil is also illegal. However, huge oil has the power to drive foreign policy of the empire in the US, and the direct violation of the Geneva Convention isn’t worthy even of a footnote, apart from of course, to the Syrian people.

Head of Genie Oil is Efraim Eitam; he once wanted to expel what he called the cancer of Arabs from Israel. During a memorial service held in 2006, he said that they could not be with all of the Arabs and that they could not give up the land as the past has shown what they have done here. He went on to say that some may be able to stay but only under certain conditions, however, the majority would have to go, he said.

Standing alongside Eitam as investors are Murdoch, Cheney and Rothschild and new members have been appointed to the Strategic Advisory Board.

What has everyone excited is a region of 153 square miles in Golan Heights, which was demarcated by the authorities in Israel as being territory that was exclusive for Afek to undertake exploratory testing. This started in 2015 and ran until early April in 2017.

GOLAN HEIGHTS IS NOTHING BUT A BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY TO BE EXPLOITED

Even when you take away the issue of legality, the drilling of Afek in the region has brought up another concern and this is one that may be more imperative. A big aquifer that supplies the entire region with drinking water is set very close to the stores of fossil fuel. This brings about worries that have been serious enough for the high court in Israel to issue a temporary restraining order. This was back in 2014 but the restraining order was very quickly dismissed.

Of course, this doesn’t seem to bother Rothschild, Murdoch, Cheney or any of the others because Golan Heights to Big Oil means nothing more than just a business opportunity to exploit. Syria has been torn apart mostly due to foreign powers and radical groups looking to protect varied oil interests. Afek has set their sights on the oil and natural gas of Golan Heights, while Turkey, Daesh, Russia and the US, along with many others, and have fought over the geostrategic location of Syria for big oil pipelines, all under cover of civil and religious strife.

Oil exploration is going to benefit the push by Israel that is ongoing in expanding its settlements and occupation, as Big Oil operates under the principle that the encroachment on Syria is perfectly legal. Golan Heights has in the past been referred to by Genie and Afek as Northern Israel.

INTERNATIONAL OUTCRY HASN’T STOPPED AFTER DRILLING

There are many humanitarian and environmental groups who criticize the exploratory drilling of Afek, however, even with an outcry that is growing internationally, ongoing tests haven’t been stopped. Of course, as some of the most powerful and notorious moneyed warmongers are backing the petroleum plans of Afek, violation and outrage of international law isn’t going to matter one bit when it comes to Golan Heights.

Mystic Predicts 'World War 3' Is Going to Begin with a Devastating ‘False Flag’

A mystic has predicted the exact date of the beginning of world war 3 and has given a date of May 13th of this year.
Horacio Villegas, who claims to be a messenger of god, says that his proclamations have already been proven correct a number of times. Horatio claims to have predicted the election of Donald Trump, who he called the 'King of the Illuminati' and also the recent U.S attacks on Syria.

MYSTIC PREDICTS WORLD WAR 3 TO HAPPEN IN A MATTER OF WEEKS

The date predicted by Horatio that the war would begin also happens to be the 100 year anniversary of the visitation of the Virgin Mary to Fatima, Portugal. A matter that states is no coincidence.

Horatio elaborated on his prediction:

"The main message that people need to know in order be prepared is that between May 13th and October 13, 2017, this war will occur and be over with much devastation, shock, and death!"

Whether a conflict involving North Korea would become a global war would largely hinge on whether China decided to support the North. In the first Korean war, the South was supported by the United States and the North by China. Of late, however, China has begun to distance itself from North Korea after their series of inflammatory statements regarding the west and their continued nuclear testing program. North Korean coal exports, for example, have been recently banned in China, which was thought to be around 30% of the county's total exports.

Horatio also predicted that the war would be started on the basis of false information, and that seeming sides would be influenced to enter the war on false pretenses, telling the Daily Star:
"The reason I feel the coming false flag might be during this Holy Week is because just as Christ suffered on a Good Friday at one time, the world is about to enter its Good Friday moment as well and it would fit in God’s timeline as to the start of this dark period in human period in human history that this war would be sparked near Good Friday 2017."
Russia becoming involved in a conflict centered on the Korean peninsula until very recently seemed unlikely, with the Kremlin having been more focused on their commitments in Syria of late. Recent reports, however, reveal that Russian missiles have been seen moving close to the North Korean border, with China seemingly having begun working with Russia. A statement from the Chinese foreign ministry stated:
"China is ready to coordinate closely with Russia to help cool down as soon as possible the situation on the peninsula and encourage the parties concerned to resume dialogue.”
Until recently both Russia and China have viewed North Korea as a useful buffer between themselves and the United States which has influence over South Korea. The key to this working, however, has always been keeping the North stable. If China and Russia now no longer see Kim Jong-Un's regime as a stable government for the country, they may well want to see another regime installed there of their own choosing without the influence of the United States. Once again creating a safe buffer zone.

Potentially then North Korea is rapidly running out of allies, with Russia more interested in maintaining a buffer zone between their territory and the United States, and China seemingly wanting to stay out of any impending conflict.

Nostradamus Saw Trump as the Anti-Christ Who’ll Trigger World War 3

Nostradamus wrote: “The False Trumpet concealing madness will cause Byzantium to change its laws. From Egypt there will go forth a man who wants the edict withdrawn, changing money and standards. The trumpet shakes with great discord. An agreement broken: lifting the face to heaven: the bloody mouth will swim with blood; the face anointed with milk and honey lies on the ground.”

Not many people know that  Michel de Nostradame—commonly known only as NOSTRADAMUS—was a chemist and apothecary, before writing down four-line poetic verses called “quatrains” which seem to have predicted numerous events in the future.

In addition to writing numerous prophetic texts, Nostradamus is known for having written at least two books on medical science.

One of his most famous works is, without a doubt, the ‘Les Prophecies’. The first edition of Nostradamus’ work appeared in 1555 and ever since the publication of Les Prophecies, Michel de Nostredame, aka Nostradamus, has been credited with predicting major world events.

His second piece was published in 1557 and contained a total of 289 prophetic verses for the future. Nostradamus’ third edition was printed in 1558 containing 300 quatrains however according to reports it now only survives as part of the omnibus edition that was published after his death in 1568. This version is believed to have one unrhymed and a total of 941 rhymed quatrains written by the French seer and compiled into nine sets of 100 and one of 42, called ‘Centuries’.

Among the most notary predictions—that according to many were accurately foreseen by the great Nostradamus—are the French Revolution, Adolf Hitler’s rise to power and 9/11. However, not only did Nostradamus get all of that right, it is believed that the 16th-century prophet even managed to predict Trump’s presidential win: “The great shameless, audacious bawler. He will be elected governor of the army: The boldness of his contention. The bridge broken, the city faint from fear.”
Now, it is believed that when Nostradamus spoke about the Anti-Christ he was referring to the newly appointed, 45th president of the United States: Donald Trump.

Those who have followed the predictions by Nostradamus firmly argue that Trumps it the Anti-Christ who will cause World War 3, and to back up their claims they point to the following verses written down by Michel de Nostradame hundreds of years ago:

The False Trumpet concealing madness will cause Byzantium to change its laws. From Egypt there will go forth a man who wants the edict withdrawn, changing money and standards.

The trumpet shakes with great discord. An agreement broken: lifting the face to heaven: the bloody mouth will swim with blood; the face anointed with milk and honey lies on the ground.

According to Arthur Evans—who wrote the article “What are Presidential election Predictions 2016 of Nostradamus—those who believe in the ‘predictions’ of Nostradamus argue that the ‘false trumpet’ mentioned by the French apothecary represents the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump—who is “concealing his own madness“.

In an article about Nostradamus, Evans concluded: “Is Donald Trump really the Antichrist who will cause World War III, a nuclear war or biological warfare sustaining for 27 years? No one can be certain about this; however, I am pretty sure right now is the start to Nostradamus’ prediction of the apocalypse.”

Kim Jong-Un Orders Immediate Evacuation of North Korea's Capital City Pyongyang

Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, has ordered the evacuation of 25% of residents from Pyongyang and said they are to leave immediately. 600,000 people are to be urgently evacuated and it is thought that the evacuation has been prompted by the strained tensions with the USA.
The bomb shelters of Pyongyang are not adequate enough to accommodate all of the population of North Korea, so 600,000 individuals; many with criminal records are going to have to leave the city so that others are able to use the bomb shelters.

ROCKET CARRIER WITH 154 TOMAHAWK MISSILES DEPLOYED TO KOREAN COAST

At the same time, it has been said that a modified Ohio type rocket carrier is going to carry 154 Tomahawk type missiles and this is said to be joining the US Navy which has been deployed close to the Korean Peninsula coast. The missile carrier will arrive at its port of registration by 18 April.

South Korean media has reported that many residents of DPRK have been saying goodbye to each other, along with their homes and places that hold meaning to them, as though they are preparing for war on a large scale. However, it is forbidden to say goodbye to any officers of law enforcement agencies and it is also forbidden to say out loud the name of any national leaders when saying goodbye.

MILITARY TRAINS MOVING THROUGHOUT SHENYANG

The media in China said that doctors along with auxiliary troops were making their way to the North Korean border. In one photo a chain of military trains was seen moving throughout Shenyang, the city is around 200 miles from the border of North Korea.

150,000 soldiers from China are said to have been mobilised ready for the refugees from North Korea, who they fear may flee the country if there is an air strike from the USA. However, China has refuted news that there has been a deployment of 150,000 troops to the DPRK border.

Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster said that his commander in chief had ordered deployment of an aircraft carrier strike group from the USA in the region. He believes that the choice to deploy ships from the US Navy into the Sea of Japan was a reasonable decision when taking into consideration the “model of provocative behaviour” of North Korea.

DPRK MAY CONDUCT MORE MISSILE TESTS

North Korea had condemned the attack on Syria under the orders of Trump, saying that the cruise missile attack on the USA was one of intolerable aggression. Experts believe that tensions may get even higher following 15 April when DPRK might conduct more tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Professor Andrei Lankov, the well-known Orientalist from Russia, has been residing and working in Seoul for years and said that if the USA attacks North Korea, He said Pyongyang would retaliate with a strike that may pose a threat to around 25 million people living in Seoul, due to the city being close to the North and South border. A Korean war would be inevitable.

It has also been said that Japan is getting ready to evacuate citizens from South Korea due to the growing tensions in North Korea.

US for First Time Drops Its Largest Non-Nuclear Moab Bomb on an Isis Target in Afghanistan

President Trump Smashes ISIS As Largest Non-nuclear Bomb in Combat Dropped
The Pentagon has confirmed that the US has dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb in combat on the Nangarhar province in Afghanistan. The bomb was said to be twice that of the nuclear one that was dropped on Hiroshima.

THE MOTHER OF ALL BOMBS DROPPED ON NANGARHAR PROVINCE

The radius of the bomb was thought to be over a mile and it the bomb itself was described as being “the mother of all bombs”. This is the first time that the weapon has been used in combat and it is a huge statement from Trump that he is planning to keep to his promise of wiping ISIS from the face of the Earth.

An MC-130 aircraft was used to drop the bomb, which was said to have been operated by Air Force Special Operations Command. The bomb was 21,000lbs in weight and has left a crater that is thought to be over 300 meters wide. At this time it isn’t known if there are casualties, however, it was stated that if anyone was in the area they would have been vaporised.

Commander of the US forces in Afghanistan, Gen. John Nicholson, signed off for using the MOAB. This follows as fears over war reach fever pitch, as North Koreas Jong-Un is said to be on the brink of setting off a global conflict.

EVERY PREVENTION WAS TAKEN TO AVOID CASUALTY AMONG CIVILIANS

It was left to Sean Spicer, the White House secretary, to confirm the news of the bomb having being dropped. He said that the US had taken all necessary precautions to prevent casualties among civilians. However, he would not comment on whether the US would consider using the bomb on North Korea at some point in the future.

The bomb was deployed at 7.32pm local time in Nangarhar province in the Achin district, which is located in Eastern Afghanistan. The strike was said to have been designed to minimize the risk to US and Afghan Forces who were taking part in cleaning operations within the region, while at the same time maximising destruction of ISIS facilities and fighters.
ANYONE WITHIN A RANGE OF HUNDREDS OF METERS WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED

At this point, it isn’t clear just how much damage the bomb has caused. Col Rick Franona, a military analyst said that the bomb would have felt a like a nuclear weapon blast in the area. He went on to say that the pressure of it would have sent shockwaves through the tunnel systems, killing everyone. He said that anyone who was within a range of hundreds of meters when it dropped would have been killed.

The gaze of the world has been on Syria and Pyongyang, following the airstrike by the US on the territory of Bashar al-Assad. As the world is on the brink of war Rex Tillerson had been talking with Russian diplomats to try to calm down the situation. Vladimir Putin backs President Trump’s determination to defeat the cult, also known as Daesh. In January of this year Trump gave jihadis only 30 days and then he vowed to bomb them.

Trump has a foreign policy pledge that states "Pursue aggressive joint and coalition military operations to crush and destroy ISIS”.

"International cooperation to cut off their funding, expand intelligence sharing, and cyber warfare to disrupt and disable their propaganda and recruiting.

"Defeat the ideology of radical Islamic terrorism just as we won the Cold War.”
